Description

Yay another animal fully drawn live on stream and made for my Patrons. Thank you so much for making this possible! The Kimeoth is a Kiwi x Comet Moth Chimera. It's name was voted on by the followers of my stream. Like the other chimeras the animals that I combined for the design were chosen by the patrons. All Chimeras that I make are original characters.

Basic Information

Behavior:
Kimeoth are shy creatures. This behavior is so influential on their way of living that the amount of predators can influence if they are mainly seen during the day or night. Kimeoth live a solitary life until they find a mate for life. The bond with their mates is so strong that most Kimeoth die soon after losing their partner. In a lot of cultures it is a popular belief that the Kimeoth dies of a 'broken heart' in these cases. The body mass of the Kimeoth is very light (especially the wings) which allows them to fly and float short distances between trees. The antenna and the nostrils at the end of it's beak give it very strong senses. The Male Kimeoth uses it's wings to impress the Female.

Habitat:
The Kimeoth prefer warm climates as their wings are vulnerable to the cold. They are often found in rainforest's and sometimes grasslands.

Diet:

The beak of the Kimeoth makes them very adept in gathering food from the ground. Their strong sense of smell can pick up the scent of underground animals. Therefore they primarily eat worms, grubs and small invertebrates. They also eat seeds and fruits when given the opportunity.

Appearance and maintenance:
Kimeoth are usually found in just one color pattern. The size of the 'eyes' on the wings can vary for each individual. The average wingspan of the Kimeoth is between 14 to16 cm and they have a length of 26 to 28 cm. The nails of the Kimeoth stay in good shape by digging for prey on a regular basis.

Reproduction and lifespan:

The oldest known Kimeoth was 12 years old but on average the Kimeoth live around 10 years. Kimeoth lay relatively big eggs compared to it's body size. The growth of the egg takes so much energy that the female has to eat three times as much as normal. Male Kimeoth often bring food too the female during these 17-20 days. Both the male and female incubate the egg in a nest high from the ground and this takes about 30 to 40 days. Kimeoth don't attempt flying until they are 30 days old.
